A Walt Howarth gallery…

Hey, it’s time for another gallery from Heritage Auctions’ Ultimate Batman Collection auction, which is in full swing until early August.

This time out, we’ve got 13 SMASHING BRITISH BATMAN PAINTINGS FROM THE ’60s — all by Walt Howarth, the pre-eminent Silver Age Bat-artist from Old Blighty.

Some of the images are based on American comics, others are original, and still others are related to the 1966 Batman TV show.

Yeah, baby!

In no particular order, along with Heritage’s descriptions:

—

This artwork for the Batman Story Book Annual from 1969 was painted by the original artist Walt Howarth. Mr. Howarth painted the original cover artwork for many “British Annuals” published throughout the 1960’s. He also created covers for many other popular character items including toys, scrapbooks, and puzzles. As was his habit, he always painted 2 copies of each so he could submit one to the publisher and keep one for himself as a record. This original piece was the one he kept in his collection, and it is nearly identical to the graphic on the book. The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Walt Howarth before his passing in 2008.
