With the recent announcement that actors have been cast in the roles of Green Lantern/Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific and Metamorpho for “Superman: Legacy,” many fans have aired their concerns that the film will be nothing more than a set up vehicle for other characters to launch DC Studios’ new wave of films.
According to co-CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn, that’s not the case. Responding to those concerns on his Threads social media account, Gunn wrote, “I’ve never used one movie to set up another movie. The characters are there because they help to tell Superman’s story better, not so we can set up separate projects in the franchise. Superman and Lois are the very clear protagonists.”

Just how those characters will help Gunn better tell Superman’s story will be interesting to see.
“Superman: Legacy”, which will star David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, is scheduled to be released July 11, 2025.
