The winners for the 2023 Eisner Awards have just been announced at San Diego Comic-Con. Plenty of titles were honored this year, but Nightwing and The Human Target led the pack with two wins apiece. Out of its three nominations, Nightwing won Best Continuing Series and Best Cover Artist (Bruno Redondo). It wasn’t the only bat-related title to win this year, however. Others include Batman: One Bad Day: The Riddler by Tom King and Mitch Gerads, which won Best Single Issue/One-Shot, and “Finding Batman” by Kevin Conroy and J. Bone in DC Pride 2022, which won Best Short Story. The latter is awarded posthumously to Conroy for his emotional tale of seeing his friend die of AIDS and how he channeled that pain into his Batman performance.
