One successful tryout at the ESL One Berlin Major 2023 is only all it takes for the team Aster to decide they want SumaiL Hassan. While placing eighth in a major isn’t much to call home about, it probably has the best SumaiL has ever had since he left Evil Geniuses.
Hence the upcoming Aster line-up will be a top candidate. Regardless, many people had argued about foreign players in Chinese football.

Team Aster and SumaiL at Berlin-Marine Major.
Before turning down the Berlin Major, SumaiL stand-in for Team Aster on the basis of a team decision to stand Zhai Xwy Jingkai bench. At first glance, SumaiL jumped on everybody’s radar since he played underwhelmingly last year in DreamLeague S19.
Yet Aster seemed phenomenal with SumaiL, but the language barriers and language problems are the main reason why many people have failed to speak. In fact, in a recent post-match interview with SumaiL, he shared that it was quite simple to communicate with his Chinese teammates with the use of in-game chatlines and standard words such as Attack!, Fall back!, and even Sorry.
Nevertheless, the fans did not think about it, despite the rarer role of foreign players who cannot speak Chinese. Vici Gaming, for example, met Nuengnara 23savage Teeramahanon, Thai players by hiring a translator. It didn’t happen as twenty-three months were limited to four months of the work.

Aster confirmed SumaiL as their official mid-player, at least until International 12 (TI12). While negotiation for long-term plans is still underway, Sumail will be playing under team Aster tag in the upcoming Tour 3, the Major 2023, Bali and hopefully TI12.

Even though this is certainly great news for both parties, it wasn’t without hiccups to make this deal rolling. According to the team-aster manager, XiaoFei on livestream, SumaiL declined their offer immediately. Strangely, he isn’t sure if he would like to move to China just a six-month long term (and not until TI12). Hence, why they are negotiating for a long time to the following years TI13.
Besides that, SumaiL has the most important things covered, like already having a Chinese job visa, and his family support him moving. He also appears to get a generous salary, but was undisclosed by XiaoFei, who would even take a Western chef by surprise if SumaiL wasn’t comfortable with Chinese cuisine.

Chinese sports have an industrious atmosphere.
After playing with SumaiL at Berlin-Museum, players shared that he is the perfect mid-player. That said, the decision to hire a foreign player isn’t exclusive to SumaiL, as XiaoFei shared that they might consider the Topias Topson Taavitsainen or Gleb kiyotaka Zyryanov if SumaiL does not decline.
This means the lack of great Chinese mid-players in the scene, as they could rival the foreign talents. The match-fixing scandal in the Chinese scene caused a very serious illness in the present year.
Whatever happens, this is a milestone for Chinese teams to finally trust foreign talents to spice up their game.
