James Gunn’s hunt for his Superman: Legacy cast is reportedly beginning to narrow, and it reads like a whos-who of today’s actors.
A new report from The Hollywood Reporter is narrowing down the potential castings for the highly anticipated Superman: Legacy. According to the report, screen tests have not yet happened and will commence after Memorial Day. Gunn has recently stated that the film will begin shooting in Jan. 2024, so this leaves plenty of time for selection, prep, and rehearsals.
Clark Kent/Superman
David Corenswet (Pearl) is reportedly one of the names being considered for Clark Kent at the moment. There are reportedly more names still in the mix, but no sources have shared who those performers are as of yet.

Lois Lane
The race for Lois Lane has a bit more information surrounding it. The list of rumored actors includes Emma Mackey (Sex Education, Barbie), Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton), Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), and Samara Weaving (Scream VI).
Brosnahan is said to have been ‘outstanding’ in her audition, but at 32 may be older than Gunn is looking to for both Clark and Lois.
Lex Luthor
Only one name is known so far for Lex Luthor, and that is Nicholas Hoult. Hoult was down to the final two choices for The Batman, and is considered a favorite at Warner Bros. ever since 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.

Beyond the potential actors testing for the three main roles, this report also indicates that the film may include appearances by some other DC heroes as it serves as the first feature film in the new DC Universe. No details were shared as to what other heroes we may see.
Superman: Legacy is due to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
