Hello everyone and welcome back to Upcoming Comics! This week is really light coverage wise, between the fact that it’s a fifth week, and we only have two Bat books to cover: Detective Comics and DC’s Pride special for this year. Still there’s plenty of content packed into both of those, plus Beyond the Bat, to keep you busy tomorrow! So let’s dive in and take a look.
Upcoming Comics
DC Pride 2023 #1
Batman arrives at the new Orgham grounds (which used to be the ruins of Arkham Asylum) to investigate what the Orghams have been hiding directly underneath the land that ties Gotham to the family centuries back…including the existence of Batman. Then, in the backup, Gordon investigates the reason Sorrow can’t be near Batman…and they find out the difficult way.
- Written By: Grant Morrison, Rex Ogle, Josh Trujillo, Leah Williams, Christopher Cantwell, Nadia Shammas, Nicole Maines, Mildred Louis, A.L. Kaplan
- Art By: Mildred Louis, A.L. Kaplan, Stephen Sadowski, Paulina Ganucheau, Babs Tarr, Ted Brandt, Claire Roe, Skylar Patridge, Don Aguillo, Bruka Jones, Noah Dao
- Colors By: Tamra Bonvillain, Marissa Louise, Dearbhla Kelly
- Cover By: Mateus Manhanini, Travis Moore, Jen Bartel, Gabriel Picolo, Oscar Vega
Thoughts: I tend to enjoy chunks of each year’s Pride anthology, it’s fun to see what different adventures and tales come out of this particular title.

Thoughts: I’m excited for this issue with Batman diving into the Orgham’s plans at last. I’m hoping for some action and excitement.

Beyond the Bat
Welcome back to Beyond the Bat! Much like with books we’re covering this week, there’s not a ton outside of Batman titles to focus on either. Fifth Tuesdays are just like that sometimes, but a lighter week can be a nice way to focus on other titles or take a break and refresh before something new comes out.
Ratings
Most Excited: Detective Comics #1072- Despite the slower pacing the series has held so far, I have hopes that this issue kicks things up a notch, and we get some fun moments.
Wild Card: DC Pride 2023 #1- The great thing about anthologies is that because there’s so much they’re offering you’re bound to find a few stories you’re going to love, even if that variety also means there’s the possibility for some you don’t love as much.
Least Excited: This week there isn’t one! With just two titles to cover, and both of them something I find interesting, there’s nothing for this slot this week.
And that is it for this week’s Upcoming Comics! I hope you’ve had an excellent weekend, if you have the day off enjoy the extra time to rest and relax. As always, see you in the comments!
