According to a new report, Warner Bros. Discovery is shopping around a $500 million dollar package deal to other studios that include movie and music rights.
According to a report from Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery is shopping around a package to other studios to try to alleviate some of its debt. One source says that the package is for “slightly less than half” of the studio’s catalog. Sony is reportedly the leading studio at the moment as a possible new home for the properties.
On the music side, the package is said to include music from films such as Rent, Evita, and Purple Rain, as well as works from several different Batman films. There is no clarity as of yet is if this means songs such as “Kiss From a Rose,” or the actual soundtrack. Also rumored to be included would be one of the most famous film songs of all time, “As Time Goes By” from Casablanca.
No word as of yet as to which movies may be included.
Warner Bros. Discovery is still attempting to pay down nearly $49.5 billion dollars of debt held by the studio. $500 million dollars would at least help it accomplish a small slice of that goal.
